THE WOODLAND PATHS

The Woodland Garden

The avenue of laurels and, in the shade, the path of the Acanthus lead to the grottoes animated by small waterfalls and created with the intention of taking the visitor into a fairy-tale world. They are an integral part of a complex hydraulic system that brings water from the pond at the top of the hill to the areas to be irrigated in the kitchen garden and formal garden that are adjacent to the Villa. Laurels, Cysts, Sages... in the sun... while in the shade of the Acanthus, the scent of Cyclamen.

The Valley

Going uphill, past the travertine stone arch, you enter the dense wood and arrive to the cypress clearing, where in August 2019 a whirlwind uprooted about thirty cypress trees. A veritable "sturm und drang" that upset the balance of the place. The golden spiral created using the dead-hedge technique with the branches of the felled cypresses is a tribute to Nature and a wish of rebirth.

The Cliff

A path along the boundary wall leads to the westernmost area of the park. It climbs along terraced paths with ancient cypress trees where Mediterranean plants grow, arriving at the boundary towers, the “Volpara” Tower, built as a sentinel over the Volpara Valley, the “Belvedere” Tower, from which there is a wonderful view of the Gulf of Garda and the “Rotonda” Tower on the border with the olive grove.

The Hill

Continuing to climb to the top of the hill, you reach the 'Great' Tower, erected in 1845 as an emerging element in the garden landscape, an optical landmark and observatory; a place of vision, as well as of being seen. And in the shade of the cypresses and to the song of the cicadas, you can contemplate the waters of the spring that slowly plunge into the pond and you will find tranquility again.
